So the Seahawks and the Steelers will be traveling to the motor city to meet up in Super Bowl XL. It should be a good matchup, but we think the Steelers should win this one handily.
What is this guy thinking!!?? Sure, it was a bad year for Culpepper, given the Love Boat scandal, horrendous play and a major knee injury. But a true leader should step up and take on challenges and not run away from them. If Culpepper tries to force the Vikings hand into either releasing or trading him, it will speak an awful lot about the former Pro Bowler's character. When things are rosey and he had Randy Moss to throw to, things were just peachy. Now that there is a bit of adversity in Minn, he wants to run away?? Prove that you can play without Randy Moss as a Viking and then you can talk about restructuring your contract Daunte.
The NFL has to do something about it's officiating in the playoffs. Be it an extra official, cameras in the endzones or even mandatory reviews, something needs to be done to get these calls right! Players work too hard and there is too much on the line for an official to blow and obvious call. I'm all for letting players play, when it comes to the playoffs, but when the calls come to change of possession or spotting the ball, like you saw in this weekend's divisional playoff games, the calls have to be made correctly!
The big question that fantasy footballers had when Herman Edwards was named the head coach of the Chiefs yesterday was this: Would he keep the same offensive system in place, in KC that made the Chiefs offense such a juggarnaut? Well, Edwards says that he has every intention to keep things the same in KC. We think the Chiefs will be a little less aggressive in their offensive game plans as next season rolls around, but not enough to affect the fantasy value of Larry Johnson or Tony Gonzalez significantly. We still see no reason why Johnson shouldn't be the number one pick in next years fantasy draft.
We sent out a breaking news this morning on a report that Bengals QB Carson Palmer not only tore his ACL but could have also tore his MCL to boot. If this is the case, Palmer's rehab could be a bit longer than originally indicated and he could wind up being placed on the PUP list when the 2006 season starts. If this is the case, this will definitely affect his fantasy value in 2006 and slide him down many people's draft boards. This report has not yet been confirmed, but the sources of the report are sticking by their story. If there are any further developments, we'll keep ya updated.
It's now official that Herman Edwards will be the head man of the Chiefs in 2006. The big question for fantasy footballers must be, how this move will affect the Chiefs offensive output. Edwards believes in a strong running game, so Larry Johnson should still put up big numbers. The rest of the offense will be up in the air, as offensive coordinator, Al Saunders contract is up at the end of this month and has been interviewing for head coaching positions across the country. We think Edwards would be smart if he doesn't change the offense drastically, since this is such a veteran-laden offensive squad. It will be very interesting who he hires as his OC if Saunders chooses to leave KC.
We think this will be a major step foward for the Viking and their offense. Childress previously worked with Donovan McNabb who has some striking similarites to Daunte Culpepper. He may be more able to harness the talents of Culpepper allow him to bounce back in 2006. What Childress does with the Vikings running backs may be a more interesting situation. You can expect Minn. running backs to catch considerably more balls out of the backfield than they previously did. Will he still go for a RB in the first round of the NFL draft or will he look for a smaller, better receiving back in the 2nd or 3rd rounds?? He could stick with Mewelde Moore, who fits his offense to a T. Stay tuned....
Wow! What a performance by the QB from Texas! Young couldn't be stopped throwing or running the ball by the USC defense. The burning question now is, will he declare for the NFL draft??? If he does, you can make a serious argument for Young going No.1 overall to his hometown team, the Texans. The jury is still out on David Carr and Young would sell more tickets if he were the QB in Houston. If he comes out this year and you're in a keeper league, you probably going to want to snag him as he has some serious big-play potential.
