Winslow back in old form?

One of the most interesting players to be drafted this season should be Browns TE Kellen Winslow Jr. Winslow came out of the University of Miami as one of the best TE prospects in years, but injuries, suffered on and off the field, have limited his career to two games. Winslow has been working like a maniac during his rehabilitation and the guy looks like a beast. I actually recently ran into him, Charlie Frye and Dennis Northcutt at a Cavalaliers playoff game this offseason and the guy looked like a mack truck. Now, how well all that work in the weightroom translates to success on the football field is yet to be seen, but we think Winslow's desire, combined with his outstanding work ethic and relationship with Frye will lead to some pretty good numbers in the 2006 season. He could actually be one of the steals of the draft since many are still down on him because of his poor decisions in the past.

Palmer on road to recovery

While we think it was good that Bengals QB Carson Palmer threw a few passes in 7 on 7 drills in minicamp, we are still very hesitant about predicting big numbers for him in 2006. Our opinion is that the Bengals want to make everyone think he'll be ready to open the season, but the reality is, Palmer, who is only 6 months removed from major knee surgery, will not be ready to open the season in Sept. When he does come back, how long will it take him to get back into a rythm with his offensive mates? Fine things like, timing, game speed and fear of re-injury are things you have to think about when drafting Palmer this year. We suggest, if you do take a shot at drafting him, you better have a VERY solid backup plan if disaster strikes.
